Love The One Programme

Love the One programme is also known as Community Paediatric and Educational Outreach Project, which is basically child focused programme for the children from very poor back ground and also for special need children( handicapped/disables children) implementing in urban area of Gnajam district and rural area of Gajapati and Kandhamal districts of Odisha.This programme has been implementing from 2018 onwards with the support of Love the One UK. The main aim of the programme is to ensure holistic development of the children by protecting and promoting basic child rights focusing in the context of children’s health, education and child care.
Under health programme, it implements clinic , children therapy centre and community health care activities which are based at urban area in Berhampur as well as in rural area of Gajapati and Kandhamal districts and the activities are as follows:

Clinic

Clinic plays a pivotal role in rendering primary health service to the children of the Love the one school, all EPICs, children therapy centre and also children of different communities. The onsite clinic continue to give health care provision for the children who are already attending the other programs and for children who needed more extended reviews due to a more complex medical condition that have already been seen in the mobile clinics.

 Nearly around five hundred children who are enrolled in the project gets free heath care from the project set up clinic led by doctors and other supporting professional  and non professional health staffs. Round the clock, they render health service to the children by providing health checks, distribute medicines and refer to government or private local medical or medical of state level or other state in major cases.

During COVID period, the clinic staffs have saved many lives by providing timely health service to the people of its operational area.

Children’s Therapy Centre:

The ‘Children Therapy Centre’ is one of the hope and life saving centre for the children with mental and physical disability. The centre runs in a very organized way. The children have been providing not only with food and special care but also various therapy activities and teachings. The teachings for them were conducted through different medium such as audio visual, games, toys, and other sports items. There are presently 18 such children given service in the reporting period. The centre organizes week long therapy treatment service every year for such special children where around 30 to 50 such children from local to Berhampur as well as from remote areas of neighboring districts take part and access the service from the centre.

A number of volunteer doctors, nurses, occupational and physio-therapists and medical students extends their services which is very encouraging for the team of our centre. The organization has been planning to link with Government department for their development and self sustenance.

Under education programme, the organization implements presently seven number of Early Pediatric Interventional Care Centre (EPIC Centre) and  two English medium schools in all three districts. In Ganjam district, especially in urban area, it runs five EPIC centres and one English medium school till 9th standard where as in Gajapati district of Paralakhemundi, it runs two Epics and one Englishmedium school and in Bamunigoan of Kandhamal district, it runs one EPIC form 2021.

Early Pediatric Interventional Care Centre (EPIC Centre)

There are 8 such types of centers run in the communities covering around 200 children at the age group of 1 to below 5 years and in each centre , there are 20 to 30 children . Most of the centers run by local mothers and continue to provide excellent play based care for all the children. The children take care with supply of nutritious intake, child friendly education comprising games, storytelling, drawing etc. The children gets health checks time to time by the Clinic staffs. . The important days of the calendar in India including Independence Day and Republic Day, Teachers Day and Children’s Day which were observed in the year. The children had a chance to do skits, dances and speeches to improve their confidence and boost their inner quality and talents. The team members have received training time to time throughout the year by the senior staffs of the EPICs as well by the experts from volunteers.

Love the One School

Love the one school is also another activity of love the one programme where poor and street children of the Berhampur city and its neighboring village get education .It was opened formally in April 2016 with ‘Bridge’ program course. However, now, the school runs from LKG to Standard 9th. The school has registered till 7th standard and has affiliated with ZEE school, Berhampur for high school, 10th board exam. 

Many of the children in the previous Bridge program for school dropouts are now in the Love the One school. The school follows the CBSE English Medium curriculum. Many thanks go to the dedicated teachers who believe in a vision where no child is beaten and every child has the opportunity to learn in a safe environment. Many extracurricular activities also regularly take place at the school including music and sports activities. The school observed its annual day as well as many importance days such as Annual day, science day, Independent, Republic, teachers’ and children’s day in a grand way. The children get a chance to do skits, dances and speeches to improve their confidence and boost their inner quality and talents. Eminent guests from different back ground are invited to the events to boost the children to get inspire and shape their future to become good students as well as to become a good human being.

Teachers are equipped with lots of trainings time to time throughout the year by the experts of volunteers on innovative, child friendly and various methods of teachings. Apart from, as a member of school association in the district, the teachers attended various education related meetings and workshops that conducts by the education department, govt of Odisha and gain lots of knowledge and experiences. The school also conduct quarterly once parents teacher’s meeting that really helps parents as well as teachers to aware fully about the educational status of the children..

 
Winter Holiday Children’s Programs

As a child centered organization; it likes to create fun and enjoyment among the children every time wherever it gets opportunity. The organization organizes Winter Holiday Children programme among the children of Gajapati , Kandhamal and Ganjam .The programme usually organize in the month of November and December and besides our project children, some community children also take part in this event. Around altogether 600 to 700 children take part and activities such as group games, group dance, skits and other fun activities conducted among the children in every events . It is really amazing and children enjoy a lot .All children are distributed with lots of gift and prizes based on their talents and all enjoy the event.

Child welfare Team (CWT):

Child welfare team is another department of the project where the team deals on children’s welfare such as sponsorship of children, children’s counseling, children’s career guideline, parents counseling, community awareness, safety of children, work on children’s justice and growth etc. A team of five to six professional staffs work on it.

Staff capacity building programme:

Love the one Programme is currently having eight numbers of EPIC centres, one clinic, two schools, one therapy centre , one children’s welfare team and office in three districts, hence to run all these centres we have 165(2022-23) professionals and non professional staffs .Specially to run the schools, EPICs, and Children therapy centres, we have teaching and non teaching staffs, where as to run clinic and health programme, we have doctors, nurses and other health workers, also we have other departments such as administration, account, transport , facility and housekeeping departments. Hence to run all our centres smoothly and systematically, the organization conducts trainings and orientation programme time to time throughout the year.
Resource persons are invited from outside such as from Asha Kiran, Koraput also the senior level staffs from the organization who are expertise in training conducts regular throughout the year for each category of the staffs in different topics like leadership, vision and mission the project, communication, team building etc.Also volunteers who visit to our NGO also do conduct training for our staffs.

Programme implementing strategies:

The project runs with its proper implementation of plan and strategies to achieve its goal and purposes. Annual activity plan and budget are prepared annually in department wise.Based on the annual action plan, monthly action plans are prepared by the core team of each centres or department. Based on the annual action plan, annual budget also is prepared and to implement the programme, senior level meeting is conducted monthly basis where senior staffs that represents from each department update about their activities of previous month and propose their plan for following month.
The centre leader or coordinator along with administration and account staff again meet once in a month to review progress of the centers and submit progress report and monthly action plan with budget at central project office. There is a clear communication, coordination and transparency maintain in each and every aspects of the programme to achieve its purpose and goals.
