LIVELIHOOD SECURITY:
In order to ensure livelihood security among the dalit community, the organization had organized versatile of activities such as awareness on NREGA, RTI and Govt. schemes, awareness to women SHG groups on IGP activities and linkages with govt. and other financial institutions , PRI training to women leaders and facilitation of basic rights of the dalit and tribal community and also training to young girls on different livelihood activities. The awareness programmes has been conducted in the form of village meeting, trainings and work shops where trainings and workshops were organized in cluster level and GP level As a result 60 drop out girls within the age group of 16- 18 from 4 villages have been taken up leaf plate making as their livelihood, 1540 people including women have been engaged in NREGA in the project area for their livelihood, 720 SHG members of 48 SHG group have acquired knowledge on different IGPs, 8 SHG members are involved in leaf plate making, 2 SHG are in rice mill activity, 5 SHG are in goat rearing 80% people are aware of NREGA and 40% people are aware of RTI in the target area, 170 women leaders have been trained up on PRI, women leaders take part in different developmental activities in community level.
RURAL UNORGANIZED WORKERS’ EDUCATION PROGRAMME
90% people of the operational area are unorganized laborers who work in different sectors. Due to lack of awareness on labour rights, they have been exploited in their employment regularly. Looking to the need of the area, the organization had conducted a training for empowerment of rural workers specially for agricultural tribal workers of Kukudkhandi block of Ganjam district with the support of CBWE, Berhampur. The two days training programme had provided deep insights to the workers on labour rights, Govt. provisions, different compensations, welfare for labourers etc. Two resource persons from different institutions were invited who made the programme more managed the programme effectively in participatory approach. Mr. S.Gochayat , Dilip Sobasundar and Mr. Bidesi Mallik were the resource persons in the training programme.. Around 40 labourers including women took part in the training.
STUDY ON CONFLICTS ON OWNERSHIP OF LANDS:
A research study had conducted by the organization in block level on conflicts on ownership of lands between dalits and tribals. 10 selected villages were taken for the study from both the communities and around 100 people from different categories were interviewed for the study. The recommendation in the study was as follows:
The study has been a tool for resolving the land issue in the area. It has been studied well the mind and attitude of different categories of people with regard to the land issues. There were many significant strategies found during the studies to address the issues such as people want to resolve the land issue in non- violent way. They want the issue can be resolved by the interference of district or state administration, by legal process in the court also by interference of local leaders, NGOs and grass root level elected representatives. These strategies can be adopted in addressing the land conflict issues in different area. Hopeful, this study will be helpful in resolving the land issues to a greater extent
CYCLONE DISASTER RESPONSE PROGRAMME:
RELIEF PROGRAMME: With the collaboration of ASSIST and support of United way of Hydrabad, the organization distributed the reliefs to the Phailine cyclone affected victims of Chhtrapur and Ganjam block of Ganajam district. Total 514 families of 5 villages of Chamakhandi GP of Chhatrapur block and Kainchapur G.P. of Ganjam block was received the relief materials in two phases. In fist phases, the relief materials such as 5 kg of rice, 2 kg of dal, one litre of oil, and one pair dresses for male and one pair dresses for female were provided. In 2nd phases, the relief materials such one towels, two blankets and one solar light were provided to all 514 families.
REHABILITATION PROGRAMME: The organization was implemented the rehabilitation work in two villages of Chamakhandi G.P of Chhatrapur block in the form of cash for work .Under the cash for work total 251 man days work had completed in Mangwarepeta village and 1365 man days work was provided to Hariappppalli village .Both village people were cleaned the horticulture field which were badly damaged and broken. By this programme, the cyclone affected people got the employment for 15 to 20 days each and also got the horticulture field cleaned as a result they can once again cultivate the horticulture in the cleaned field.
- Renovations of village ponds in two villages.
- Support of tiller machines for farmers.
- Installation of bore well for drinking water facilities.
- Open well repairing for dinking water as well as cultivation purposes.
- Support to landless families for livelihood activites.
- School development activities.
ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS POGRAMME:
With the support of Ministry of Environment and Forest dept of Govt. of India, the organization had conducted National Environment Awareness Campaign in 5 villages of Balipada G.P. of Kukudakhandi block of Ganjam district in the month of January 14 in form of workshop and plantation activities. The people were made aware of preservation of viodiversity,management of the forest, importance of planting trees, importance of forest in their livelihood and scope and benefits of creating forest etc. Around 59 people including women, youth took part in the programme and there after plantation was done in all villages.Following decisions were taken in the programme in the villages are;
- The people formed the village forest committee and plan to preserve the bio diversity, protect the forest, and register in the bio diversity process.
- They decided not to cut the trees rampantly.
- They decided to plant the trees every year out of the village fund.
- They decided to register with line department for preservation of bio diversity.
