HOSTEL PROGRAMME:

Since inceptions, SAHANUBHTUI prioritizes education as its main issue to deal in its target area .It believes that education is the key factor for the development of human being. Due to poverty, lack of value of education, lack of teachers, infrastructures and many more reasons, most of the schools in the villages do not functions properly  and by that, the education of children hampers a lot. Especially girl’s education hampers very much due to various reasons in the rural areas. And therefore SAHANUBHUTI has been running the hostel since last 14 years for providing quality education to the dalit, tribal and orphan children. . Last year there were 110 inmates in the hostel from 2nd standard to 12th standard and 75% of them are girls and 15% are orphans. A hostel time schedule has been maintained which help children to learn about the punctuality, sincerity and other good things. Besides school teachings, they have been provided with special classes enhance their standard. They are also provided with special classes on morality, spirituality and etiquette and some vocational teaching classes. Last year, there were  12 numbers of 10th class students out of which all passed in the exam and 2 of them stood 1st and 3 of them came 2nd. there were 8 intermediate students and all of them have passed the board exam.  Really we are very proud of the students as well as the superintended and other staff of the hostel for their sincere guiding and managing well the hostel. 

EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR DALIT COMMUNITY

Education programme for dalit community has been implemented in 30 villages of 2  GPs with the support of Dalit Foundation, New Delhi during the period 2012 to 2014. The main purpose of the programme was to
educate the dalit children, enhance the livelihood of dalit community and aware the community for eradication of untoucability practices in the area. Following major achievements were made during the year. They were;

EDUCATION FOR DALIT CHILDREN :

The area is tribal and dalit dominant area and they are having backwardness in every as pects of their life. They are also very loe educational status. High dropout rate is basically found in primary and secondary school level. In order to increase the educational status among these communities and to minimize the dropout rates in the area among them, the organization had implemented various activities such as awareness programme for dalit and tribal children as well as among parents, organizing special motivational class for the children , conducting children’s day and to encouraging children for different competition among them for enhancing their inner skills and capacities and teaching them to give importance on humanity than caste discrimination. These activities has been helped the children as well as the parents towards realizing the value of education and its importance in the life. Cent percent enrollment among dalit children, reduction of drop out rate, no untouchability practices in the schools are some of the major achievements taken place in the year through the programme .

ERADICATION OF UNTOUCHABILITY

An untouchability practice is still prevalent in the project area of our organization even after celebrating the country 64 years of independence. There are few mixed villages in the area where both dalits and high caste people do live and social evils become hurdles in the life of dalit community. The organization had taken initiative this year, to make aware both the community on eradication of untouchability.  The activities such as awareness on SC/ST (POA) Act and eradication of untoucability practices were conducted in the form of GP level training, workshops and village level meetings. As a result 60% of people are aware of  dalit rights and DVA ,untouchability practices in 4 villages have been minimized to some extent, there is a good behavior developed among high caste people towards dalits, no discrimination has practices during conduction of inter caste meeting .

SUMMER SPECIAL COURSE:

The programme was organized for the 10th class students where 82 students had taken residential course of 45 days. The two teachers from science and English back ground   took the class. There was a time scheduled prepared based on the convenient of both teachers and students. The courses fees were donated by the church priest where as the food and other expenses born by the student itself. There was a course exam at the end of the course and at least 70% students had secured satisfaction marks. The students were really very much benefitted from the course.
